This much-loved fundraiser event brings together the German community in Melbourne, our school families, alumni, and locals for an evening of Glühwein, Bratwurst and festive cheer! This year, for the first time, we are introducing tickets to ensure a great experience for all. Adult tickets are $2 (via Eventbrite), while children under 16 are free. By managing numbers, we’re aiming to allow everyone to comfortably browse stalls, enjoy the entertainment, and savour the food, plus get a better understanding of numbers and attendees ourselves. The DSM German Christmas Market is a showcase of traditional German culture and festive fun in the Melbourne Spring! Expect delicious food such as sausages, pretzels, cakes, and Berliner (jam donuts), alongside an array of hand-made Christmas gifts, glass ornaments, local jewellery, and more.
But wait, there's more! Live music and activities like craft tables, teddy bear hospital and treasure hunts make for a great and relaxed time for the entire family.
Our Christmas Market is not only about festive fun; it’s also the main fundraiser of the year, helping to support the Deutsche Schule Melbourne and enhance our students’ learning experience. In past years, funds raised have helped build a fantastic playground, purchase a wealth of books for our library, and fund other important school projects.
The market is almost entirely run by the engaged parent community of the school, a massive and exciting labour of love ❤️

Parking is limited on-site, so we encourage you to use public transport for convenience.

There is disabled parking available right in front of our school at the Barkly Street entrance, and most of our market stalls are accessible.
While well-behaved dogs are allowed, we don’t recommend bringing them due to the crowds.
Yes! With over 30 stalls, we have food and drink to cater to most dietary needs.
A German saying goes “We’re not made of sugar!”. So, yes, we will go ahead rain, hail, or shine, please dress for the weather!
Our market is mostly cash-free, so please bring cards or digital payments.
Yes, the DSM German Christmas Market is an outdoor event. A few stalls are inside and many of the activities are under some sort of verandah/gazebo or umbrella, but the main event is outdoors.
The main entrance is on 96 Barkly Street, Fitzroy North VIC 3068.
All funds raised from the Christmas Market will go directly to supporting programs and resources for our students at Deutsche Schule Melbourne.
Stall spaces for 2024 are fully booked, but applications for 2025 open in Term 3 next year.
